Deshauna Barber, who is a United States Army Reserve Captain and won the Miss USA crown in 2016, will lead the Military Appreciation Days Parade down Farrow Parkway and greet fans at the Big Family Picnic held afterwards in Valor Memorial Garden. She also works as an advocate and spokesperson for soldiers living with PTSD. The parade is sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and will step off at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 26th, and travels down Pampas Drive and Farrow Parkway. The Big Family Picnic that follows from 12 – 2 PM in Valor Memorial Garden is free and will be complete with activities, military exhibits and live music from the Andrew Thielen Big Band. The Market Common celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and is located on the site of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base.
