The Market Common

Beauty, by architectural design

The beauty of many of the buildings in our area are the result of the steady hands of LS3P architects.

Open since the summer of 2016, the Myrtle Beach LS3P office joins seven other LS3P locations throughout the Southeast. Prior to the merger with LS3P, owners Jim Hubbard and Lizzie Daniel, Jim’s wife, were known as Hubbard Architecture.

“And our move to The Market Common was a no-brainer, really,” says Hubbard. “Lizzie and I live in Market Common’s Sweetgrass Square and we love the connected urban feel of this neighborhood. And we were considering a similar move to Main Street in Columbia, so our headquarters could be a part of that urban fabric because all of LS3P’s eight offices are located in dense urban areas in each of our cities.

“We are committed to our communities through our local and regional volunteerism and leadership and our office locations certainly help with these commitments,” Hubbard continues. “And The Market Common was a natural fit for our values.”

Also built into LS3P’s values is its mission to engage their clients and communities, and to design meaningful places, with proven results that transform. That’s all founded on the team’s commitment to creating solid, long-lasting relationships within LS3P’s network of more than 300 employees, with clients across the country, and within the communities they serve.

“We strive to create architecture that enriches community through a culture of design excellence, expertise, innovation, and collaborative engagement,” says Hubbard, former president of South Carolina’s American Institute of Architects. “In fact, the editor of DesignIntelligence has called LS3P ‘the most local of the global firms’ and the most ‘world-class of the locals.’ We’ve enjoyed a long legacy of design excellence, with over 490 design awards across diverse practice areas.”

Major practice areas for LS3P include aviation and transportation, office, residential, K-12 education, healthcare, higher education, hospitality, worship, and federal projects. In addition to architectural services, the comprehensive team at LS3P provides interior layout designs and master planning.

Locally, LS3P has a groundbreaking, dual-branded Marriott oceanfront tower ready for construction, with a design inspired by maritime forests, or as Hubbard describes, “where the sea and land meet sun and fun.”

“We’re also excited to announce that we’ve recently begun design work for the City of Myrtle Beach’s Arts and Innovation District,” he says. “This comprehensive and multifaceted project includes designing the grounds and buildings for the entire district, plus realigning roadways to allow for a rational town center and common.

“Our building designs include a performing arts center, a library, two museums, city hall, co-working tech space, retail and restaurant, as well as public / private partnership opportunities for office and residential development,” continues Hubbard. “This design project will facilitate and accelerate a much-needed refocus on live, work, and play downtown.”
